I am also running Windows 8 Consumer Preview on my Acer Iconia W500. It's really fast and no issues so far with it!

Just make sure whatever you choose has a minimum screen resolution of 1366 x 768. Anything smaller than that will not be able to take advantage of some of the Win8 features (like "snap," which is awesome) or will not be able to run win 8 at all.

Aside from that, if it runs win7, it should be able to run win8 (better, in my opinion)

I'm thinking of getting the Lenovo Ideapad Yoga. It's not a pure tablet, but I could never give up the keyboard very easily.

However, it depends on if I can afford it or find a place that carries it. Most likely just a simple tablet with decent specs and a stylus.

I hadn't seen that one before, it looks absolutely awesome. I have a Viliv S10 3G, and I use it in all of the same configurations.
The Yoga definitely looks like what my idea of a Windows 8 machine should be. Very cool.

I wonder if you can turn the keyboard off so there are no stray keypresses in stand and tablet mode?

Apparently it turns off automatically after 180 degrees.

I think towards the end of the year there will be a whole avalanche of slates, tablets and similar that come with Windows8. I would wait for that. One advantage - you need not buy a Win8 license seperately. Other advantage - you will have a much bigger selection.

I think the Lenovo IdeaTab S2110 (10" ARM Tablet with detachable keyboard) would be excellent with Windows 8 on Arm.
