I am looking to buy a tablet for small weekend trips or even just a day out shooting (photography).
I have a desktop that is very powerful and don't need to replace it with this tablet. I also have a laptop that I take on longer trips.

Here are some of the things I MUST/really want to have.

I must be able to install the canon eos utility to remotely control the cameras.

the tablet needs to have USB for the 60D and wifi for the 6D.

I'd like to install adobe bridge.

I want to be able to sync between laptop/desktop and the tablet, I guess that's wifi.

SD card insert to transfer raw files/install programs if needed.

user replaceable battery.

50-100gb storage space (would be great if user expandable, but I could also use the usb for external storage.

10-11" screen

battery life?

power of cpu is just important to run these programs acceptable, doesn't need to be the killer of the bunch.

access the internet, check mail. Would be great to use the phone as a connection, since I'm already paying a monthly fee for that.

I'm not sure what else there is that I'm not aware of, gps might be nice but not necessary.

I'm not in a hurry, if some new generation is to be released within 2-3 month, I'd rather wait.

I would like to stay around $500

Thank you

I can tell you off the bat that you will need an x86 based Windows 8 tablet PC.

The processor you can easily settle on an Intel Atom based system, although Intel is prepping to release their new Atom processors soon, which are more worthwhile than the current generation.

You will need to use a Microsoft Account and sync your settings from your desktop/laptop PC to the tablet and vice versa, SkyDrive will be helpful here.

I'll look into some tablets I think could be useful to you. I'm kind of curious myself as I haven't really research the latest tablet PCs. :)

Surface Pro

It ticks every box except removable battery. I don't think any tablets offer that though.

Microsoft Store - Buy Acer Iconia W510-1674 Tablet Computer

From my looking's, (by the way the Microsoft Store app on Windows Phone is very nicely designed) the Acer Iconia tablet with the Atom processor should do nicely. It's got a 9ish hour battery life, not over the top, not too terrible, and x86 based which you'll be able to install Adobe Bridge and use it acceptably fine. And it's on sale for 400 dollars! ('o')

But if you're not going to be buying it now, like a few months later, I'd wait it out for the next gen tablets. By that time, there will be better Atom processors from Intel and probably will be loaded with Windows 8.1!

take a look at the Dell lattitude 10 essentials with windows 8 Pro, it might be a bit more money but it seems to fit all your needs, but you should wait till 8.1 comes out if you can wait to purchase it. Also you can get it with an extra battery, but it will cost you a bit more

all good suggestions, I like the Acer and the Dell.
I think I'll wait, I read good things about the new Atom processor and if all else fails, it might bring down the prices of the current tablets.

Glad I found this. I was thinking about the acer myself. I might just wait and see what the new chip machines cost and like datandroid maybe the price on the current ones will drop.
