When I put my SD Card in my Dell Inspiron desktop card reader slot it shows up as a laptop computer.

Can I change the icon?

The same card in my laptop first showed as a card drive with the card in or out and the SD legend above but that has gone now and shows an icon like a computer tower.

There exists somewhere in System32 a SD Card icon I would like to use this - but how?

What's stored on the SD card? Sometimes the content determines what Icon is shown. If there is an autorun.ini file in the route directory it may be affecting what icon is displayed.

In the root folder of your SD card, there is a hidden file called: autorun.inf that looks like as shown below:

[AutoRun.Amd64]
open=setup.exe
icon=Windows_to_Go.ico

So when you plug in the SD card, it will display "Windows_to_Go.ico" in this example.

Open Folders option and uncheck: "Hide protected operating system file" then you'll see this file. Copy the icon file you wish to display to the root folder of the SD, Edit autorun.inf with notepad.exe and set it to this icon file.

Reboot your PC, plug in the SD, you'll see the change.
