I have a Canon MP990 All-in-One which has been working perfectly from when I installed the Canon drivers on my new home build W8 64bitpc a few weeks ago. This included successfully printing pdf files via the W8 Reader App. I set up the MP990 to always show a print preview before printing.
All of a sudden, today, whilst I am still able to print from MS Office 10 Outlook, Word, Excel, IE10 and Wordpad, with no problems at all, I can no longer print pdf files via Reader (as you may know, I understand Adobe Reader 10 does not as yet support a W8 printer device).
Trying to print via the W8 Reader App now, I can select my printer device (MP990) and set the printing options. Then, when I press ‘Print’, I get a message to the effect, ‘Printer needs your attention, go to desktop.’ This is a valid message I’ve always had which means I have to go to the Desktop to see the Canon Print Preview screen. However, the Print Preview screen is no longer appearing (though it still does via Outlook, Word, Excel, IE10 and Wordpad ) and when I check the printer properties; the print queue is completely empty.
Maybe it’s a rogue Windows update, though I can’t see anything recently obvious.
I carried out a Diagnosis & Repair from My Printer – no faults at all and successfully printed a Test page. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Pedro
