    Windows not recognizing any discs.

Here's my problem. My PC with Windows 8 Pro doesn't read any kind of discs. I first tried a movie then it reads, a little disc appears on the cursor which means that the disc is being read. But all of a sudden, it fails at the end and doesn't read the disc. Even a bootable disc, it just stays black with a blinking line then it fails to read it as well. No errors or messages, it just proceeds to the Windows 8 loading screen.

    Any help?

If you have a bootable CD or DVD, try booting from it. (I suggest using the hotkey to change the boot order on a one-time basis, if you know what it its. Otherwise, change the boot order in the BIOS.)

If you can boot from the disk, you have a Windows problem.

If not, you may have a bad optical drive. Cheap to replace if it's a regular third-height 5.25" drive in a desktop PC; may be more of a problem if it's a laptop or a small form factor system that uses a laptop type drive.

Dell Inspiron 15 with Windows 8 is not recognizing AMD Rad
Hi. Yesterday, I restored my Inspiron 15 to it's factory settings. Post-reset, I installed all drivers for Windows 8 directly from the Dell website except for the AMD driver which I took from the AMD website (just wanting to get the latest directly from the source, I guess). I also used that...

Rescuing DVD re-writable discs (DVD+RW)
Hi there. Some of you still use DVD re-writable Discs - and although they are reasonably cheap it's annoying if you want to use one and you've run out. I still make the odd DVD from MP4/MKV blu ray rips for my folks who just want to play movies on a "stand alone" domestic DVD player. Some...
