according the the USA site, it says it works with just these....Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2), (excluding Windows XP 64-bit)
Microsoft Headset: LifeChat LX-3000 | Microsoft Hardware

Have you tried using a different usb port? Have you configured the headset/mic in the sound panel?

I own LifeChat LX-3000 and it works on my Windows 8 Pro. I'm just plug-in into my front usb2 and wait for windows 8 to download driver. I also try Windows 7 driver and it is same as Windows 8 downloaded from update. All my Call of Duty games on Steam works [ Black Ops, Black Ops II, MW3 and MW2] just fine. Desktop Skype also.
yeah Im deeply aare of poor qualty materials and I dont think there is that much diference from other cheap headsets of the same range of price. Ive read that that leather imitation beacomes a sort of paste after long use but didnt expect to briddle off like in those pictures. Maybe you use them execesively ( hours everyday).
Anyway Ive bought them mostly for the good reviews of the mic for skype calls and for recording during some gameplay. I might listen some music with them but I have a audio system for that and I couldnt bear them on my "special" ears more than an hour.
And they not deliver quite a very good soud qualily anyway. I wonder if at some point the wearn of that leather can be covered by waranty.
The driver autoinstalled when I plugged them , Ive set them as default playback device but do i need to do other changes in sound manager ? (Bear in mind that I have a webcam with a mic and an audio system)
