ESata - Recognizing and starting my Drive

Hi Guys,

Just after some general advice. I've had the same problem with Win 7 and Win 8 Pro and could do with a resolve just because it's getting on my nerves a bit.

I keep an ESata HDD attached to my PC for backup purposes, its one which can be started as a USB or ESata drive. If I attach it as a USB drive it starts up and the PC recognizes it just like any other USB device. However if I attach it via ESata the PC doesn't see the drive unless I go to Control Panel / Device Manager and Scan for Hardware Changes. it then comes up and works as normal.

It's just a bit annoying that it doesn't attach automatically...........

Any suggestions on a workaround would be welcome.

Cheers

Have you tried a different eSATA cable? I just went through this and when I swapped out the cable, it worked! The connectors on the cable tend to get damaged unless you are VERY careful with them... Hope this helps!
