Greetings everyone,

I've ran into a strange issue, my local hard-drive is listed in "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media". Now the issue may be that my computer is a new build. I just assembled this computer, you can review my specs if you desire, and the hard drive is from my previous build. I had to do a fresh install without a complete format (to save my files).

Also, in the Devices and Printers, my computer shows a missing driver which Windows cannot find (you can see this in the attachment).

I included another attachment that is unusual under the tab "Policies" in my hard drive properties.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's not unusual for hard drives to be listed as removable if the SATA controller is set to AHCI mode.

There may be a BIOS setting to chose whether the drive is removable or not, but I don't find it in the manual for the board.

After the install of OS, have you updated your drivers from ASRock? Mainly the chipset driver and the BIOS.

I'm going to try that right now, the ones on the CD are always outdated.

Now this is interesting, AHCI mode... is there any reason for me to keep it on AHCI instead of IDE? I saw this setting in UEFI.

Interesting, after installing the updates my local HDD is no longer listed in removable media. This solved my issue, thank you for your help.

It's a miracle! Or something.

Now, if you'd get rid of that animated GIF avatar...

Not a chance! This was a gift from the Administrator of this and "sevenforums" forum back when there wasn't an "eightforums". I love it; originally the avatar wasn't animated.
