DVD drive not recognize by windows-8 after update

hi all

i installed WINDOWS-8 RP 64bit for trail on DG41RQ mobo
(as well as on other PC (DG31PR) where there is no problem).

all was well till i updated the intel chipset driver (Intel Chipset Device Software version 9.1.2.1008)

and the BIOS version (to RQG4110H.86A.0017.EB)

now the system doesn't recognize my LG DVD drive (HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GH22NP20) , (also in device manger and also in SAFE MODE)
my BIOS dose recognize it and i CAN boot a live Win-XP from it.

i tried to roll back the IDE intel controllers drivers, but no change.

i have an IDE HDD as master, and the DVD Drive as SLAVE (recognized as such by BIOS).

my UEFI is desabled in BIOS (i don't know what it is actually).

(i have Activation Key (PRO) but i want to make sure all is well before activation)

please HELP

i have a similar situation with a lite-on dvd drive not being detected by win8, but it is detected by winXP and win7 on the same system so it is not a hardware cable issue. the funny part is that i used the dvd drive to install win8. i havent checked for a firmware update for the dvd drive yet though.

I have the same problem. A USB DVD drive that is seen fine in Windows 7 but Windows 8 lists it like a USB memory key. So, I cannot use that drive in Windows 8.

As with any newer version of Windows, it seems to have the hardest time with any hardware built before the OS was released.
