I've used multiple usb hook-ups so I know its not a bad cable. I've tried searching for the device/ adding it manually nothing will work. I've also tried using different USB ports, no luck. Need help from somebody smarter than I!!

Thanks.

Hello Dpete, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Yep, you'll need to install the Galaxy S2 USB drivers first. These are the ones I used for mine at the Samsung link below. :)

I had to play with my wife and daughter's Android phones (HTC Inspire) to get Win7 to see them. I installed the HTC software and drivers, then applied an update, then ran the S/w install, then attached the USB cable, went to config on phone and started the sync. It took many tries but I finally got it to work.... Good luck!

i thought i tried everything under the sun. if kies or just the usb drivers are not fixing it for you try plugging into a different usb port. i've been at this for hours and this is what has finally worked for me. kies is part of the fix as i tried switching usb ports before with no luck.
