USB Driver Problem

I keep getting error messages from my backup software, NTI Shadow 5, every time I insert a USB pen into any USB port – see attached pic1.

I contacted NTI and received this response:

“The error you are getting indicates that you have 3 removable media drives such as a flash memory card reader with 3 slots that Windows thinks are hard drives. Since there is no media in the drive, when Shadow asks Windows for information on the drives in the system Windows returns the error for each drive that it thinks is a hard drive but is a removable media drive with not media in the drive. Since you have 3 jobs setup Shadow asks Windows for this information 3 times and Windows gives you the errors for each drive 3 times, once for each job.

This can happen if there is a bug in the driver for your Flash memory card reader or if Windows is running Shadow 5 in compatibility mode.”

Shadow 5 is not running in compatibility mode so I checked Device Manager – see attached pic2.

It does indeed appear that Windows sees my USB hub and Lexar Card Reader devices as hard drives.

How might I cure this problem please?
