Hi All,

I'm looking to build a video-encoding rig for under $700. I will also play some Sims 3 while I wait. Nothing else planned for the machine. Please provide feedback for how it looks. I will be buying from Amazon. Note that all parts have been checked for compatibility.

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1220

GPU: EVGA GT 640 2GB

MoBo: Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3

ODD: Lite-ON Super All Write DVD-RW (24x)

RAM: Corsair XMS3 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR3-1333MHz

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB (Sata r3, 7200rpm, 64Mb Cache)

PSU: Corsair CX430 (80+ Bronze)

Case: Corsair Carbide 200r

Thanks in advance!

I would strongly recommend a 120 or 128GB SSD for the boot drive ($100) and a WD Caviar Black 64MB cache hard drive instead of the Caviar Blue. You could get the 500GB drive instead of the 1TB to save a few $, but it may not be much cheaper. I just built a neighbor a PC using a Gigabyte motherboard last Friday and I was very impressed with it's quality and performance! Good luck!
