Hello everyone,
I am using Windows 8 64 bit Pro. After my ps/2 mouse was giving problems I recently switched to using a wireless usb mouse. Now when that didn't suit me I wanted switch back to a ps/2 mouse. But the problem is that now when I attach the mouse to the ps/2 port, Windows does not detect it like it previously did. But when I connect a ps/2 keyboard to the ps/2 port it works fine. And yes my ps/2 port can be used for both mouse and keyboard, this I have tested before. In the device manager I can't find any entry for standard ps/2 mouse in the mice and other pointing devices section. But there is one such entry for the keyboard. I guess the real source of the problem is that I don't have the driver for standard ps/2 mouse. How can I reinstall the Windows 8 64bit compatible driver for standard ps/2 mouse. A screenshot of the Device Manager list is attached.
