Win 8 freezes at Startup

I have just installed a new LG BluRay writer. After I had built in the new hardware, it took ages before I could get Windows 8 to start again. It got into a vicious circle of rebooting and shutting down. Finally Windows started but the situation is at the moment that although Windows always starts, it goes into a freeze mode for about 3-5 minutes every time during start-up. During the freeze stage I see the WIN8 logo and the wheel underneath that stops. I was wondering if there is anyway I could find out what is causing the freeze. Is there a start-up log or something similar that I may point me to where the problems lay? Thanks in advance for any input

hi,one woud have to think it is caused by the dvd player ,so remove it to see if boots ,if it does ,then the plaeyer must be connected incorrectly ,did check motherboard manual for proper instulation

Mine did this and it was a add-in USB and firewire (1394) PCI card that was causing it. I ended up pitching the add-in card in the trash...

Could something be overheating? Is there any chance that you knocked something loose when you were installing the DVD drive, like a fan, etc... Sometimes these simple things happen and cause all kinds of hard-to-diagnose grief!
