    New BIOS => EFI


    I think we are headed for EFI, a new Intel developed standard to replace the BIOS. The 100MB boot partition we are seeing in 7 is just the beginning.

    Apple has been using EFI for years. You don't want Microsoft bow down to the evil empier that is Apple do you? If it is beter then go right ahead.

    In simple terms the Bios is on the hard drive? So no more bad flashes?

    I think this is real progress. I never liked the BIOS UI.

    And for those interested. It looks much better, has a lot of options, can use the mouse, but it is really no different. It's still just a bios, just looks better.

    Looks nice, a definite improvement from the old BIOS.

    It's past time to upgrade, it needs to be faster, much faster.

Just a thought...... Currently we build around 80,000 pc's a year here, with a fairly low attach rate of Nvidia Cards (Geforce G210, Quadro 600 and Quadro 2000D). I was just speaking to one of my Taiwanese colleagues who said their new G210 VGA Cards with a UEFI Bios will not work on Windows 7...
