Thanks Dave. I do like it, it looks better, you an use your mouse, and it has a lot of options. But honestly, it's the same old bios we are all used to, it just looks a whole lot better and fancier.

I have an EFI motherboard right now, and to be honest, it really isn't any different from the BIOS. Same options, exact same menus, just reskinned and the mouse is enabled (which I don't use because it is overly sensitive).

On the other hand, it does look nicer. That's really the only difference at the moment though.

I'll take anything that looks better than the BIOS.

I thought EFI was suppose to be faster than BIOS

Was hoping for a faster boot.

There were some articles I read several months ago that were touting 1-2 sec system bootup.

    Must be slightly exaggerated

More than slightly, at least on my machine.

Yep, that's some of the articles I read.

You would think they could put in an option to not search for new hardware, then the default would be 'run what you got', and load fast.
When you add new hardware you could then choose the option to search for it.
This would obviously be an option for enthusiasts.

Takes my computer longer to POST than it does to load Windows with EFI. Probably about 8 seconds from hitting start to getting to the windows loading screen, which is maybe 5 seconds from there to log in.

Just a thought...... Currently we build around 80,000 pc's a year here, with a fairly low attach rate of Nvidia Cards (Geforce G210, Quadro 600 and Quadro 2000D). I was just speaking to one of my Taiwanese colleagues who said their new G210 VGA Cards with a UEFI Bios will not work on Windows 7...
