Asus M4N68T-M Drivers and Disc Issues

I just did a fresh install of Windows 8 and tried installing my drivers via my MOBO driver disc. I am getting the error message that this disc is not supported by the current OS, I tried running the setup in comp. mode which did not work either. Am I able to get the drivers for my MOBO if so how and where? I did look on the asus website and found my board but there was so much crap there that I honestly have no idea what to get and what not too, as well as not knowing if it would even work with windows 8. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Asus M4N68T-M V2 µATX Motherboard here. The only thing that didn't work for me with the stock installed drivers was the onboard VIA VT1708S sound. The ASUS Windows 7 driver didn't work for me so I went to VIA and found a Windows 8 driver there. The best you'll get from ASUS for that board is the Windows 7 drivers. That may change but I wouldn't hold my breath. NVidia's nForce chip-set drivers are only Windows 7 at the moment to.

Hmmm I am guessing my best bet would be to just buy a new asus board that is windows 8 ready then instead of trying to screw around with all of this? Because I cant event get my driver disc to work at all, so I have 0 drivers for my mobo atm.

The driver disk was likely made before Windows 8 was released. It shouldn't be a big surprise that it doesn't work. Windows 8 installed all of the necessary drivers for me, except for the onboard VIA sound. That will likely show up in Windows update at some point. Look in device manger and see what is not working. Why do you say you have zero drivers? My M4N68 runs just fine in Windows 8.

I don't know which drivers are included with the Windows 8 installation.

There are ones at Windows Update that seem to be for the 630a/7025 combination:

DXDIAG shows my video driver as 9.18.13.697, which is what is listed in the update catalog. I have a GT 220 installed so the nForce 306.97 drivers were installed automatically. I have a M2N68 in my other PC and DXDIAG list 9.18.13.697 for it also. It has the same 690a/7025 chip-set in it. No add-in card for video in that one just the onboard. It looks to me like the stock installed drivers are what's listed in the update catalog. Also the update catalog only lists x86 drivers for Windows 8 + 630a/7025. Like I said the only driver I had to hunt up and install manually was for the VIA onboard sound.

I have a different Asus MB and no drivers for Windows 8 on Asus site so I just used the drivers that came with Windows 8. Forget about the disc that came with your board and just use the Windows 8 default and as Alphanumeric said , just look in Device Manager and if there are not problems just run with it until Asus does an upgrade. Don't try to fix what's not broke.

I admit that I don't know what's there at the Windows Update archive. The file sizes seemed too large for them just to be the graphics drivers. I checked one: my guess is that it only contains the graphics drivers. I think the size may be due to them being the International version, plus containing both X86 and X64 versions. (Not sure about the latter, but it included some X64 DLLs.)

I suppose they'd be served up automatically, if necessary, as long as Windows Update was configured to provide driver updates.

Looking in the Microsoft Update Catalog was a good idea. I've gone there in the past and looked for drivers. Network drivers usually. If your network isn't working you can't get to windows update to get the driver. I've downloaded on one machine and then installed on another to get it working. I was just pointing out that what was listed there looked to be what was already installed, on my system anyway. A lot of times you'll have to look at the detailed description to see if a driver is 32 bit or 64 bit. I'll have to admit to being one of those people that has to have the latest and greatest driver. That being said if there isn't one, there is not much you can do. I only panic if I have hardware that isn't working. The stock Windows 8 drivers are working fine for me aside from the sound issue I already mentioned. My WEI scores are as good as they were in Windows 7 and device manager is clean with no problems showing. The nForce drivers I've downloaded from ASUS do contain Display drivers along with the chip-set drivers. 630a being the chip-set and 7025 being the onboard video. There are Ethernet drivers in there too. As far as I know the GeForce drivers are video only. The 306.99 were installed on my system, don't know if they are on the DVD or it was though windows update. They were there the first time I looked in Programs and features. 306.99 was the latest drivers the last time I checked on the NVidia site.
We'll just have to wait and see what the OP has to say.
