I have a nine year old Dell computer with an ATA hard drive and a brand new Dell 8500 Windows 8 computer. I would like to be able to use some programs on the old ATA hard drive (Quicken, Quick Books Pro) but my new system will not allow me install the older programs.
I have figured out how to install the older hard drive into my new system but I am not sure if the programs will work once I install the old hard drive into the new computer. So..
Will the older hard drive work as a secondary drive in the new system?
Will I have to re-install Windows XP on the old drive once I install the hard drive?
Will the Windows XP software that came with the old Dell system re-install onto the old hard drive once the old hard drive is installed into the new system as a secondary drive?
Will I have to re-install the programs I would like to use that are on the old hard drive, once I install the hard drive into my new system?
