Stardock Fences 2.0 Beta Win8 Support

How original Stardock names their programs: first we got Blinds for our Windows (got it? :)) and then some Fences for in the Garden.

Now we miss some Doors (yet to be made) to our House.

Experience:
I've tested the Start8 beta (free product?) which eventually expired leaving me in the Metro station in the dark, :( and now I'm not even interested in the full version. Ok there are maybe some free limited versions available (even these Fences look interesting) but I'm not gonna complicate things (I'm afraid this beta will expire again) and just use the UI Windows provides me or something like Classic Shell which doesn't expire.

This is my own opinion, however my brother is a Stardock fan and there is no reason to begin a war related to custom UI applications free or not.

Use what you like or what works best for you.

Cheers
Hopachi

    That's basically it.
If you think about it, fences is akin to the Metro start page, where you can block icons on the desktop to specific sections (kind of like the tiles on the metro Start). I'm really waiting for Blinds, so I can get the rounded-corner look on my windows. I keep too many applications up at once to be stuck to the full-screen world of Metro (I've got about a dozen programs open right now on 2 monitors, metro on a dual monitor system doesn't seem to work well, I get one monitor with my start menu or whatever app I'm running, and the other is the old-school 'desktop').

As for the Start8 expiring, they released a new, updated version before the expiration, which was a night and day difference from the original version. As far as I know (and I've not really checked), the latest version doesn't have an expiration date..

I would like to check out Fences Beta 2, but not willing to pay for a beta. Especially 10$.
However I did get a Promo Code for Fences Pro for 15.99. Maybe I will by that.
Free Fences as many bugs though to really tell if Fences 2 will be any better.
So, I am reluctant to pay for Alpha/Beta ware.

I stand corrected then, I was on my Win 7 work laptop and couldn't check my machine for expiry information. I'd bet a new version will be out before that time though, and I do seem to recall that there will be a free and a pay/pro version at windows 8 release.

@Dwarf
Thanks for that info. It's important to know.

@heffe2001
Thanks, it's good to know that. My mistake was that the machine was offline when the expiration occurred so it also couldn't check for a newer release. But that's fixed now.
