Sure, it works in RTM. See the pictures in the tutorial.
For exemple with Arial
Rename each letter and blank letter with a point.
S.e.g.o.e. to S......... and then replace S to A | point (.) | the next . to r | point (.) | the next . to i | and so on.

Yep, it works now. I had started one byte to the left of where the original font name started.

However, none of those font categories affected the font used in the Start Page. Any idea how to change that font??

Some of mine are still unchanged. Could it be something specific for the control panel and other programs that remain unchanged?

edit: and my left title bar is messed up

It's possible. I figured out how to do it like this:

Here I'm the using Kroeger 05_55 pixel font. The version of this font is Bitmap (.fon) and it only has one size (very, very small, 6 or 8pt If I'm not mistaken), so any size that the OS tries to set gets ignored.

I created a .reg file with this:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts]

"Segoe UI (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Bold (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Bold Italic (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Italic (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Light (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Semibold (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Symbol (TrueType)"=""

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes]

"Segoe UI"="Kroeger 05_55"
"Segoe UI Light"="Kroeger 05_55"
"Segoe UI Semibold"="Kroeger 05_55"
"Segoe UI Symbol"="Kroeger 05_55"

I think we're getting closer. My title font is still weird like ti was before (mine is also a bitmap font), and I've tried using a blank font but had no luck with that.

How did you get a thin taskbar? Or is that a shell replacement like Litestep?

It's bblean with all plugins disabled except for the taskbar. I remember that litestep was a pain to install on 64 bit windows 7 so I didn't even bother with it.

For anyone reading this thread i export the registry key values of five fonts (arial, comic sans MS,segoe print, segoe UI (default) and trebuchet MS) that i personally use and like from my windows 7 x64 machine..Here's the link Fonts Backup Windows 7.zip
Basically is the same procedure post by moinmoin except you don't have to do it manually..Simply import the reg values of each font or combinations of them,log-off and voila!!..I tested them in Windows 8 x64 and work fine..I don't know if they work in 32-bit OS..Enjoy!!..
