Most probably no..

Rainmeter is visualization dependent, you cant even get the background as shown by Rainmeter in Windows 8 :(

Unfortunately no. Theoretically, it MIGHT be possible to get a full screen background image, but that's a big if I've yet to see if it's possible with the leaked RTM. You won't be able to get sound control or straight up controls in general like you've posted with the tiles in 8, at least not yet. I bet later, that might be possible. But as of now, it doesn't seem like a huge necessity as there is already some UI that takes care of that.

And for the system monitor tile, with a developer, caffeine, and some time, I do say that is possible. It would be a large rectangle that would lively update between storage, networking, and CPU or maybe separate tiles for each on the Start Screen.

Windows 8 is different. It might seem like some hopes are dashed based off your screenshot, but Windows 8 is a different interaction. It's immersive, yet commanding. It is up to you young padawan, to take control of that power for good....

Sorry, I had to go there. :D

Actually while no on the background (for now, maybe after some hackers get to the release) the tiles likely yes. People will write live tile programs you can DL from the Store with CPU meters and such on them. With Gadgets gone, those people will turn to live tiles for that info.

Unfortunately they are not as useful since you can't see them all the time and the mere act of switching out of an app to monitor the live tiles changes the very parameter you are trying to monitor sometimes...
