Hi, i've recently noticed this program called Blue Poison It can unlock features in windows 8, but when I head to the part of the program I like the most, themes. When i try to apply them they are locked. Even in administrator rights.

Is there any way to unlock them, or obtain those themes? (mostly that grey one with those small squares)

Well Bro, you need to download the hack (they call it as activator) to activate the extra options such as themes but it seems that they have deleted this activator from download mirrors :(

Oh, this was for the Developer Preview! I remember using it to install the black tile theme, then using another utility to change the tile color to red or blue.....it was pretty...

That's why it doesn't work the CP or RP builds, no one has yet to code an app to manually tweak the Start Screen as this build's life span until RTM is four months. I would think that the hackers/tweakers out there will just wait until RTM to make new tweaking apps for finalized code instead of having to search through the code to see what part changes what.

That just pisses me off that it doesn't work in Release preview. I want custom! D:
I'm so sick and tired of seeing default colors and images.

But you're right....we may see some more stuff after the RTM and beyond.

If only we can do this in Release Preview.

Apparently they are able to be replaced using the Resource Hacker program.

The folder "SysWOW64" is actually OUTSIDE of the System32 folder, or at least in RP it is. lol and RP doesn't seem to have a imageres.dll file.

EDIT-ok I had to use the actual windows search to find it. But I can't open the file location because of the FAIL way the search function works....

EDit 2---wow Imageres.dll WAS in the folder. Wonder why it found no matches when I used the search in the folder??? odd

You need to search that within the folder in Windows Explorer, I can get to it real easily. Just go into the Windows folder, and type imageres.dll and it'll find it, and pretty quick too! Also, the hack to replace the resource on the .dll file works in the Release Preview, as it post is pretty new and I once spent half an hour trolling through ALL the resources in the file and came across the backgrounds. That is one busy file..

All we need now is someone other members to maybe mess with it and possibly replace them and show us how epic it looks after. I would do it my self but looks like I would need basically the same image multiple times, it needs a "preview" image of the start screen which I am guessing is when you "hover" onto the left bottom corner? So that needs to be replaced on top of the background it self. Amongst other images that may need to be replaced. It's a pretty big project all in its self...lol

It works in cp. Syswow is for 64 bit systems but for whatever reason you don't actually need to change it, just the imageres.dll in system32.
