Solved Icon help please

Hi all I've searched what seems to be the whole internet but can't find an answer to this.
If I open explorer, on the left hand side are icons for "desktop, pictures music documents, downloads and videos"

I've managed to change folder icons within these and of libraries. But I can't seem to change these ones.

Do you have full control over the folder? If not, right click, choose Properties. Then click the Security tab. On that tab at the bottom you'll see the Advanced button. Click that.

That brings up a new window, Advanced Security Settings. The first tab is Permissions. Click on Everyone. Then Edit. That opens a new window. Permission Entry. Click the down arrow (Type) and choose Allow. In Applies to: Choose This folder, subfolders and files. At the bottom of that window you will see Basic Permissions. Tick the box for Full control.

Click OK. That window closes and you're back to the Advanced window. Click Apply. Then close the windows that are open.

Once that's done, right click the folder you want to change the icon for, choose Properties. On the window that comes up, Click the Customize tab. At the bottom is the Change Icon button. Click that. Then you can browse to the icon you want. Choose the icon then click apply.

I solved that problem by having my music on an external drive. I then just sent a link to the Desktop and changed the icon for the shortcut.

The strange thing is I have fully ownership, I can select a new icon and apply it but These particular icons just will not change as you can see from this shot.

I've managed to change the Libraries icons, but the problem there is that the folders in the libraries are of the old type.

Ok thanks for the help David Bailey. I tried Microangelo and after a few false starts ( only changd one size of a particular icon), it works.

If you don't want to pay for Microangelo on Display, you could use the 30 day trial to change all the icons you want to change, then uninstall it.

Weird. I used those exact steps and was able to change the icon.
