I was talking about the adjustments in themes. Like the width of the scrollbar, various sizes of things. There used to be a setting in the color area to make adjustments.

Unfortunately, for what ever reason, Microsoft haven't provided a UI for these settings in Windows 8. However, you can still access the settings in the registry at:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics

make a backup of the key before making any changes...

Dear Calico ,
Hi there , I am a newbie to this forum and very keen to make my scroll bars larger for my touchscreen tablet to use it more easily especially browsing on IE 10 and others . I have followed your steps mentioned above and on my vpad 10 , I can see the scroll height and width is :- Type=REG_SZ Value Data is -252 for both height and width . I then right click on one of them and click modify , it shows Value Data -252 , which I can clear it and retype a new Value onto the box and set the changes . But what numbers should i type ? What does -252 means ? I like to make my Scroll bars wider and higher to Half and Inch for both , so what numbers should I type ? Please help and assist me as I am very new to this , in fact I never done this before . Many thanks and best regards to you - jim

Hi,

use a larger number to make them bigger -450 is used here:

Unfortunately, the values are a little obtuse. Basically, if you increase the value for both:

ScrollHeight
ScrollWidth

To something suitable - the image below has the value set at -450 - then restart Windows for the values to take effect.

Edit: Just a precaution, export the WindowsMetrics key before adjusting the values. That way, if anything goes wrong, you can easily restore the defaults.
