Disabling restart screen in Windows 8?

It MIGHT be possible to hack it to show a custom screen but like David I don't know how exactly.
I do know the boot screen can be changed by modifying Bootres.dll but it is an unofficial hack and not supported by Microsoft.
Just wondering, but why does this screen bother you so much ? If the screen was black (removed) you might accidentally turn off the PC when it's still in the process of shutting down / or updating the system, the animation prevents that.
