Solved Large Windows Start button when small taskbar icons used?

Hello there,

Yes; i am using ClassicShell, BUT i use the default Windows 8.1 Start button (cause i like the way it looks).

Thing is, when i change my taskbar icons to small, the size of the Start button is also scaled down. This looks out of place / ugly on the taskbar imo.

Does anyone here know if it is possible to use the original size and original Start button when small taskbar icons are used?

This is how it looks now:

Hey there,
Thanks, but removing the start button is not actually the problem. :)
I could just replace it with anything else since i am using ClassicShell already.
The thing is, that the default start button is, well...native and has a nicer animation then any of the start button replacement methods.

Something should be telling the Start button to change size as soon as the user ticks 'Use small taskbar icons' ? :)

I kind of figured that you wouldn't want to remove it, but just in case. I think the size would be a registry hack and I'm not familiar with that. I’ve scoured the Net on the subject to no avail. I’m performing a Registry search now to see if it’s there.

I can't believe how big the Registry is in OSs nowadays. Yikes!

I did a search of Start Button and all that came up was in reference to keyboards.

I've got to go for the evening. You may want to do a search for Start Flag. Good luck. I apologize I couldn't be of more help other than bumping the thread.

Thanks a lot for your help so far. :)
I just looked through the registry as well, but could not really find anything that seemed related right away. (then again i'm not much of a registry key expert so...).
If anyone else would know about this, that would be awesome! :)

Try uninstalling and re-installing Classic Shell.

Thanks for the tip, i just tried it but as expected it does not change anything.
Windows makes the start button smaller... not ClassicShell. ;)
