Solved How do I get fonts on Windows 8 to be better quality?

I'm using Windows 8.1 and I'd really like to get the fonts to be as nice as possible with good quality.
As an example, I found a nice font online and downloaded it. This is what it's advertised as and should be:

But this is how it showed up in the computer:

I'd just really love to get fonts to display nicely - a bit like they do on Mac computers (I believe) just without the really high Apple price label!

(And yes, I do have ClearType activated)

All help is greatly appreciated. :)

..or just use OTF. This is the only format that looks o.k. on Win 8 display (even TTF, MS-own font is not great). For printing anything (including PS) will do

This is one of Brink's howtos:

for windows 8, you should use option two or option three. However I would suggest to get high quality fonts (that is in most cases - commercial) otherwise you will always have problem with font rendering and font kerning.
Just in case: there are two types of opentype font: TTF (MS) and CFF (adobe developed from postscript). Miscosoft is of course favoring Opentype TTF. Personally I have not seen much of the difference but who knows. Microsoft played nasty already by removing PS support from Office 2013 so for long support sake make sure that you select OF TTF.
