Ugly colors

Why does MS insist on using overly bright pastel looking colors across all their OS's? Starting with XP on up to Win8 they use pastel bright colors that in my opinion are not pleasing to the eyes. It's like they let the grade school girls design the color scheme. Why can't they find a line between business clean and inviting. Like this forums colors. It's clean and adult like. But not dull and boring.

What's the problem with the color? I find them relaxing .. do peoples really do something with their PC other than look at their desktop ? I barely notice the colors

I guess I'm one of the very few who don't find it aesthetically pleasing. I prefer darker fall like colors contrasting with light colors for ease of reading text and general over all appearance. I prefer my view to be not too bright and not too dark. Default is way too bright to me and I think it's too bright and pastel-esque with all the iterations of Win OS. Look at linux and Apple, they look more professional and adult like in their appearance by default. If you want to color it up that should be your choice but I wish it wasn't that way by default.

I prefer atleast some transparency to window colors, I like the colors but do not like how solid they are, it doesn't sit well at all with me. Atleast give us the option to enable windows 8 RP aero.
