    Windows Basic theme improved (a bit)


    Have the infamous Intel 915GM chipset on my old Tablet PC, and was disheartened to learn that the previously-working XP video drivers simply would not work anymore.

    However, looking closer at the "new" Basic theme, I noticed that the windows actually do have some transparency.

    So, while it's not Aero, it is a little nicer than the old Basic.

    I've had a look at it and didn't notice any transparency... But it definitely is customizable.
    You can use the mixer/intensity options to give it a more personal look and feel, whilst all the while retaining the non-aero explorer look.

    It's not the same level of transparency as actual Aero, in fact, I only noticed it by accident.

    I moved the new Explorer window to the left on the desktop and noticed that I could see some of the other window blurred at the top of the Explorer window. On Win7, using Windows Basic, there is no such transparency at all.

    It's very weird you're seeing that, because I am seeing absolutely no transparency with the Basic theme, hence it being called the Basic theme. Perhaps there is something wrong with your driver?

    Actually, I'd rather say that there is something RIGHT with my driver -- as it gives me a better display than the default driver does in Win7. But, the driver is the generic one, and since I don't have Win8 installed anymore, I can't look it up. I think it said something like Windows Basic Display driver.
