Is there a way to have that slider again to adjust a more precise icon size in explorer ?

unfortunately not, I tried that, it's funny, Microsoft always tries to remove original functions as they keep "updating" their os..
the slider present in win7 & previous os's allowed me to change icon sizes, with the selections windows 8 offer actually & you're
showing me, I have a fixed icon size. the slider offers progressive or regressive personalized icon sizes which is helpful on different
machines/screen sizes & helps when a specific size prevents the display of some icons that don't contain different sizes .. .

Windows live mail & other ribbon dependant Microsoft apps may not open, if you reinstall such apps, you migh recover the stupid dll. there are tones of alternatives for wlm, even a clone if wanted for those who like wlm: The E-Mail Client - Home
