Multi monitor start screen

As you'll know, with multi monitors in Windows 8 you have a start screen on both monitors - but when you launch an application, it'll launch on the screen it was previously on rather than the screen you launched it from (the screen you were using the start menu on).

What I was wondering is if there are any options, or registry edits that open applications you launch from the start menu on the screen you were using the start menu on?

Thanks in advance!

that's not the behavior I've seen at all.

I have a 3 monitor display. I can choose whatever monitor has the start screen on the fly by clicking in the lower left corner of the desired monitor. however, I cannot have a start screen on all monitors simultaneously.

the monitor that has the start screen will be the monitor that shows the Modern/Metro/Immersive/whatever app. If I drag the app from one monitor to another, it will also bring the start screen with it.

so if the start screen is on the left monitor, the Windows app will be on the left monitor.
if I move the Windows app to the central monitor, now the start screen will also be on the central monitor.

Sorry if my description is a little confusing.

I didn't mean metro apps, I meant windows programs from the desktop, such as the File Explorer - when I open the start screen on monitor #1, I want it to display on monitor #1, rather than opening on the monitor it was most recently on. And, If I was to open the start screen on monitor #2, I'd want whichever program I choose to open on monitor#2

So, like you described with metro apps, I was wondering if programs within the desktop can behave the same by opening on the monitor the start screen was on/the program was launched from.

Sorry If I'm being confusing!

with desktop apps, usually it will launch on the monitor that's designated as the primary monitor unless you change the behavior and repeatedly launch from a different monitor. some programs will always launch on the primary monitor. the only way to change it universally is to set the primary monitor in the Display properties. there's no rapid way to change the primary monitor as far as I know. I wish it was as easy as with Metro/start screen by a single mouse click!

note that the primary/secondary/tertiary property is separate from the start screen/metro. so like for my 3 monitor display, my central monitor can be the primary display. but the left monitor is where my start screen/metro apps are.
