Solved No Live Tiles in Windows Dev. Preview?

superduper

I installed the Windows 8 developer preview yesterday and I love it! However, I do not have any "Live" tiles on my start screen despite me setting up the install with a Hotmail/live account. I don't have mail, photos, etc...

I have searched all over the place for them and cannot find them. Either locally via search (in apps, files, etc...), or downloadable online. I even downloaded the Live essentials pack and installed mail and that did not have a tile/app for the start screen. :(

Is it just me, or have these "Live tiles/apps" not been released yet?

Any insight would be deeply appreciated. Thanks!

:D

I deeply appreciate your response. However, that thread deals with apps not opening, or crashing.

My issue is I don't have certain "Live apps".

Again, any help would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks!

Also one there too -

http://www.eightforums.com/windows-...metro-ui-apps-do-not-work-my-old-netbook.html

Not everything is included in this dev preview 8102 build. Some things are missing on purpose, so it may be the case in your apps.

Store doesn't work, Windows Media Center isn't included yet, etc....

Here, from the Windows 8 blog -

NOTE: The preview build does not include every feature shown this morning. Shown but not in the Developer Preview release include the Windows Store, Windows Live Metro style apps, and some of the user interface features. The focus of the preview is the API and development tools for building Metro style apps.

Thanks, Airbot!

However, I don't have a problem opening or closing apps at all on the start screen. My problem is I don't have the mail, photos, calendar etc... available. I'm using a pretty powerful machine with a 22 inch widescreen monitor.

Again, thanks!

Ahhhhh. That makes sense. Thanks a ton, Airbot. You rock!
