Are you new to Win 8, is the new GUI giving you fits, or does the Start Screen have you turning in circles. Do you find the flat look of Win 8 not to your liking. Does the ribbon in Explorer (file manager) make you just want to go back to whatever flavor of Windows OS you were attempting to upgrade from. Will boys, and girls, Ladies and Gentlemen then there is a whole new world out there waiting just for you.

This is the world of Win 8 Customization. There has been enough time between the release of the Retail Copy of Windows Eight and the time it usually takes for the developers of customized software to come up with new ways of reforming the look of the Win 8 GUI.

At the present time I am using a Mountain Lion OS X GUI (very well done). there are many more to choose from, and all you have to do is type in "Skinning Windows 8" in Google, or Bing and bang you enter into a world of eye candy to choose from. Usually if you get a Skin Pack it comes with just about everything you would need (Classic Shell for the Win 7/Vista/XP/2000 taskbar, Rocket Dock for those who like to work from a dock). Those are just a few to start with.

Big GUI customizers like Stardock are already releasing some that make small changes (Start8, ModernMix as examples), but are getting ready in the near future to release their biggie "WindowBlinds" for those who are just looking to do small changes like the Start Menu and the Taskbar, Menus, etc.

As to cost. That depends on you. There is a great deal of free customization software out there, and in most cases it is very well done. The ML OS X GUI I use is a very well put together piece of software that comes with all the bells and whistles (Free). Then there are those who are looking to make just a small amount of money for their work (please if you use their software donate to them for their work. Even a small donation helps them keep the product updated).
