Changing Windows color and appearance

Hello!

I would like to change the color schemes for applications. For instance, in MS Word, I need to make the background completely dark and the text green, in order to minimize the screen radiation.

In Win 7, I can go to Personalization > Windows color > Advanced appearance settings >Windows color and appearance. Here I can change colors for Desktop, title bar, scroll bar, window text, etc. But unfortunately, in Win 8 there is no Windows color link in the Personalization window. I looked all over but cannot find the "Windows color and appearance" window.

Can someone help?

Thanks.

Microsoft removed the customizing options.
You can change a few colors in the registry, but that takes caution.

The easy way is to get the (classic) customized theme from Win7: right click on it -> save theme for sharing.
Then try to bring it in Win8 to use.

Background info:
You will be using AeroLite.msstyles as VisualStyles in a HiContrast mode to simulate the Classic Themes look.

More info about the customization of theme colors here:
http://www.eightforums.com/customiz...-ui-change-title-text-color-4.html#post152178

You don't necessarily need to modify the registry: just modify the (or each) theme by editing the theme file's [Control Panel\Colors] entries. The theme file has a *.theme extension.

After saving a theme for sharing, the Vista/7 *.themepack or the 8 *.deskthemepack can be extracted into the containing wallpapers and the *.theme file itself.

The customization/appearance options were removed from the interface (you cannot click to change them) but all options are still there.
