Hello to everyone. I want to start reading English books in order to practise more on the English language and learning new vocabulary.

My Question is simple. I want a book, which will be simple to read. (simple english words that anyone can understand). I like police stories, mysteries, murders, horro stories and thinks like that.

I prefer ebooks in order to download and read them. Does anybody have any idea?

Thnx a lot for your help.

Our Norweigan exchange student has excellent English skills and she has been reading the Twilight series and Harry Potter books. These books hold her interest and keep her turning the pages, which really helped her English reading comprehension skills!

+1.. Those would be great, IMO. Also my Aunt specialized in teaching reading in New Jersey and she would have her students read anything,,, comics etc. Just read things that interest you the most. She taught me how to read and all she did was toss good books at me and went from there. I'm partial to VONNEGUT•COM -- The Official Website of Kurt Vonnegut.

Like I said .. just read what you seem is interesting and the more the better.
Good luck with your studies. :)

Thanks! Of course, our exchange student is a 16 year old girl, so her choice of books may be different than a guy's... The key is that the subject matter was interesting to her and kept her motivated to read it, even when she got frustrated... There is a book called "The Confederacy of Dunces" by J.K. O'Toole that I could recommend, it's funny and interesting to keep your attention...

One other option is go to your local library and ask the librarian what they would recommend. Can't hurt and the card is free. Can't beet that. :D

I would advise Eoin Colfer's Artemis Fowl series. It's a humorous octet of novels centered around a teenage criminal mastermind and a race of incredibly advanced faeries who live in a massive underground city.

I remember when I was totally an alien to English.

As non English native. It's true that start reading what interest us most, is one of the keys to better understanding. But I believe to polish it to speaking we should join any formal English courses as IMO it isn't only a language but also something that is reflected with manner and culture. Now I'm happy to watch movies with less time having my glasses fixated to the subtitle. ;)
