I got an ad in the mail from Comcast offering Blast Internet for an extra $10/month.

I call the number & the person takes 15 minutes to "locate" the offer.
The person says "Blast +" for $25 extra.

I say no.
Blast for $10/month.
Put on hold........

She says, "I finally found it."
$10 extra/month.

All this time I have the written ad right in front of me. :)

This deliberate attempt to make me buy a service I don't want annoys me.

I finally get the Blast {up to 25 Mbs/second---bits not bytes} service I want.

I ran a speed test.
My service was about doubled from 1.4 Mbs/second to about 2.85 Mbs/second.

Nowhere near 25 Mbs/second.

I can live with it.
But it makes me sad that Comcast is such an ***hole when it comes to honesty & giving real value to their customers. :(

I take full responsibility for this post.
Comcast---- If you want to sue me, help yourself.
You are money hungry pigs, in my opinion.

Have you called them to complain that you are not getting the speeds that are advertised to you? My experience with Comcast is that people do get good speeds on the speed tests. If you are paying for 25 megabits and getting 2.8 megabits than something is really wrong.

Have you restarted your cable modem by any chance since doing your speed update.

I went to my local Comcast store to see if they had a cheaper plan from the 50mb which I think was $80, for $70 it's 25mb which is pretty lame. Half speed for 10 dollars off, so I simply asked the if I could have a discount while keeping my 50mb and she gave it to me no problem. now I pay $56 for 50mb.

edit--- I'll give it a couple of months & either keep it or get rid of it. The speed might pick up. Or not. Maybe I just picked a bad time to test it. They did try to sell me something I didn't want. :(

Why in the world would you wait around for a "couple of months", to see if it gets better on it's own. You should call Comcast and show them you are getting 2megabits instead of the 25megabits that you are paying for. They may just have to send a signal to your modem. They might have not set up something properly on your account. There could be a line signal problem coming into your house from the pole. Any number of things could be a very quick fix.

There is no reason to accept that at some periods of time, testing might show you getting only 10% of the speed that you are paying for.

I have Brighthouse, which is affiliated with Time Warner. I dread being folded into Comcast, if that is what will happen if Comcast buys Time Warner Cable. The area I'm in I have a choice of Brighthouse or Comcast. Comcast does not offer speeds like I have with Brighthouse (40 MB/Sec downlink/4Mb/Sec uplink) and the package prices are higher.

But the problem may very well be the modem. When I went from 2 Mb/Sec downlink service to a higher speed service, Brighthouse came out and swapped the modem with a different model, to get the higher speed. I have a modem that supports both voice (telephone) and data.

Just disconnect the power from the modem and the router, leave them off for 5, 10 minutes then turn the power back on, this will re-initalize everything and refresh the DNS caches. In your PC, open Admin command and type: ipconfig /flushdns.

If it does not improve, call them back immediately, they might have to update their database thru software to make the speed change.
In addition, For speed test, you should connect the modem directly to your PC (without the router)

EDIT: While we are on this subject, you should buy yourself a good modem instead of paying 5~7 dollars monthly rental fee. A good modem is around 50~80 dollars using the latest DOCSIS 3.0 instead of 2.0 and should also improve the speed. You'd recover the cost within a year. Look in amazon.com, read the reviews.

I've had Comcast HSI for many, many years. When I first got it, it was about 3MB. Since then it has gone up many times, and with no increase in price. It's currently between 25 and 27MB. I can't complain. A Guy
