    Homemade wine ready

My grape wine set for 3 months & I just now decanted a gallon of it.

It's sweet & good tasting at room temperature.

    Using wine yeast helped.

Bread yeast makes wine taste like crap.

I figured it cost about $4 a gallon to make.

Sterilizing everything good prevents it from turning to vinegar.
Wine vinegar is good for salad dressing though.

I was bored so I thought I would post my wine experiment.

Excellent! I've been brewing beer and making mead every weekend. A reported from a local paper/website will be reporting on my brewing this Friday. I'll post links when they are available...

I live in the south so if you don't at least know a 'shiner you aint from around here.

My grandfather used to make moonshine with his grandfather when he was a little boy so he knows a lot about the whole making beer/whiskey/etc thing. It's always interesting hearing from others their experiences/exploits.

I'm brewing two beers this weekend and friends are joining me , so they'll brew their beer as well. We'll have a good time, as brewing is really a "social" hobby!

Thanks! My wife is making homemade pizza, sausages sandwiches, grilled veggies, etc... I made a 5gal keg of homemade root beer for the kids and non-drinkers (like me) and we may have a few recently brewed beers to sample!

    I have made rootbeer.
It was better than store bought.

Back then they sold what you needed in the local store & the hardware store.

I bought a kit from a company called "Spreckers" or something like that. 1 gallon of concentrate makes 5 gallons of delicious root beer and it was less than $20 for 5 gallons. Not bad! My next batch will be made "from scratch"...
