It was just about 5 years ago this month that I purchased my first ever SSD drive. It's an 80GB Intel X25m-G2. But it for $300 back in the day. Still going to this day.

For perspective, I just bought a new 500GB Samsung Evo 840 mSata SSD for my work laptop for $289.99. This will be an upgrade from my current 256GB SSD which is always running low on disk space due to VM's.

It's been about that long since I installed a 64G Kingston ssd in my Acer netbook which is still running strong.

I recently got a killer deal on a 500GB Samsung Evo 840 ssd for $209.25 with an extended warranty (Square Trade). I had a $200 gift certificate so the drive cost me only $9.25 out of pocket.

Actually, ssds aren't really all that expensive. I paid $500 for my first hdd, a 20MB Seagate ST-225, back in 1985.

Retired in 2015 after working in the tech industry for 41 years. First 10 years as a Technician, the rest as a programmer/software engineer. After 1 year of retirement, I was bored so went back to work as a Robotic Process Automation Consultant. Retired for 3rd (and final) time in 2019.
Lucky Guys! I still can't afford SSD Drives, maybe I'm not ready to learn a whole new way of repairing them. Do they get errors the same way as HDD's do? I know what to expect from HDDs, just not from SSD's
