Sweet. There only hit here in the US if I recall right, but they also had a couple of other songs I still listen to including In My Chair, Spinning Wheel Blues and Gerdundula.

You have good taste in music Hippsie.

Yes, one-hit-wonders here in the States. I have no idea why their other songs you mention didn't make it here. I think they are good songs. Perhaps a bad manager and/or publicity agent? What I understand is that they had a lot of hits in the U.K.

    Well, thanks.

#1. I'm "older". My parents were the WWII generation that was mostly Big Band with the crooners and Jazz. My mother had a great voice and introduced music in the house. These are fond memories of my early years.

#2. I was born just a few years before Rocka-a-Roll was created. I lived and studied the history of it. It actually evolved from the deep Southern American Black slave spirituals they sang when working the fields to pass the very difficult times. When freed, some started singing the Blues and some Jazz, which evolved into Rhythm & Blues, which evolved into the Rock beat. Rock and Roll literally was the Blacks' slang term for sexual intercourse. It has that time signature. That's why it became so vastly popular. Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, and other white folk made it popular amongst the greater population, although there are a lot of great Black Rock!

My teenage years were during the English Invasion. Ironically I think they added greatly to the popularity of Rock all over the world more than anyone. Now we generally have a Rock & Roll world.

Here is what I would consider to be the epitome of the English Invasion era by the "Fab Four" who were greatly influenced by Black Rock.

Here's a great sound/song I think was greatly influenced by John Mellencamp. Just one of the great songs that the youth are putting out today.
