Happy 237th Birthday America!
I just turned 62 the other day and with the 4th of July approaching this has always been one of my favorite times of the year. As a kid I was most fortunate to grow up living on a large river. Circa 1960/70's. Many good memories of much swimming, beaching, boating, skiing, and fishing. I regret to report and with much sorrow that the river is now rated in the top 10 of the most polluted waterways in America. This was due to installed locks that controlled water levels killing off vegetation, farming using PCBs in herbicides and pesticides on fields which drain into the river, and a large increase in the volume of boats. I call it "The Open Sewer" now. I don't go near it much at all.
In the 60's there was a boating supper club named "Snug Harbor" who used to send a skiing Santa Clause up and down the river for the holiday & weekend because July 4th is basically half way through the year to Christmas. These are good memories to me, family, and friends. So to help keep the memory alive, I changed my avatar to reflect it. Also, a snip of my "Sleeps Until Christmas" Store app live tile is below.
Happy 4th of July, my fellow Americans and to anyone else that cares to celebrate it! Have a safe and happy family-filled Holiday!
