Acer Chairman J.T. Wang ... now Microsoft "go down to earth and they start to learn how people living on earth think" after "[living] in heaven."

Let's hope he is right . I am not convinced after hearing what Miss Julie said - seems more like lip service to me.

Acer: Windows 8.1 will see Microsoft come 'down to earth' - Neowin

Acer President Jim Wong told the Wall Street Journal that his company told Microsoft that Windows 8 needs a balance between touch and non-touch features. "The world in the next five years is not going 100 percent to touch," he said. "Although touch makes a lot of possibilities for PCs, you need to take care of the rest of the world that doesn't need touch."

If M$ had provided for this instead of all touch I think 50% of the current complaints would never have come to light.

on the other hand Labeeman, they could easily have split WIN8 in 2 OS's on for touch and one regular.

Need i say it....i love Win8 with his faults....but hé their where/are faults in everything MS offers.

For a second reminder, i really do not need the taskbar on the desktop. Hehehe

Further more my wife got another pc, one put together with spare parts with Win7 on. I did get complaints so was forced to buy another licence (6th one).

So i guess to each his own Siw....

It is not about our individual likes/dislikes.

It is about how MS is doing. How the market is receiving it. Where MS is trying to take the users.

Put aside your own bias and try see the bigger picture.

My views on the situation on Windows 8 and Window 8 (RT). If M$ had not tried to marry the two Windows 8 would get a lot better reception from most users. With out the integration of RT into metro, metro could have been variable in size instead of full screen only. M$ tried to turn Metro in to a add for RT too bad RT is still born wrong size for the market ect. Windows 8 without the full screen metro would be nice and usable on all size screens not just touch, RT is the snake in the wood pile. Quite a few OEMs are not supporting RT also they see problems there to. M$ is trying to be like Apple not a good sign. M$ attitude is also turning me off they are completely ignoring there customer base (OEMs, end user customers and large institutions.

You are right it is how MS is doing...

Ms is filling his pockets, trying to force us to buy or pay every year for something.

Windows 8.1 is coming, then 8.2, meanwhile we have to pay.

They offered Win8 to soon, did not want to waste time to enter the tablet market + touch screen.

I guess not everyone will follow MS to pay year in year out for something....

What I don't think people understand is Microsoft has a lot more competition now then they did five years ago. I am not saying Android or iOS is direct competition but take my mom for example, two years ago she bought a android tablet instead of a PC. She still needs the PC but not as often therefore the computer last longer, her hp is five or six years old now and she might pull it out a hand full of times a year cause everything else can be done on her tablet. People still need the PC but why spend 500-1200 on a computer when a premium tablet is 400-500 and with the less use of the laptop they last twice as long now

I am sure there are still a lot of people waiting for the traditional desktop to return and I know I am excited even though I like Windows 8 for it's security and performance but I do spend all my time in the traditional desktop mode so the return of the start button and a hopeful option available for which desktop I prefer to boot in is worth my money.
