Report for those who are not sure about Windows 8

Thanks for the article link, Wolfgang.

One by one they'll coming around.

I agree with all of it, mostly the shortcut keys.

I'll post this with Alt/S.

Yes, the Start menu is gone

From the report ... what? (not really - it's all apps now)

I like this one...
I still find that I don’t need to really make use of the Start screen. Hit the Windows key and start typing – in a second I’ve found the app I was looking for.
Although he would have as easily found "Microsoft Word" just by pressing "w"

Like this one too...
Learn to keep your fingers on the keyboard rather than reaching for the mouse and you’ll probably find that things are just as quick and easy – if not quicker and easier – to achieve as they were in Windows 7 and earlier.

This probably won't go over very well if one is anti keyboard, prefers a pointing device or does not like to be taken away from the desktop workspace.

Totally silent. No fans at all.
He missed the point. He has learnt to get around using keyboard short cuts.

He hasn't grasped what it is for or where it is leading.

I am more of a mouse guy. I can never remember more than 3 keyboard shortcuts, but for those who can, they are probably handy.

CTL+D, WIN+I and CTL+P are the ones I use. - Ah, and WIN+X. I guess it is more than 3. ;)

I've used Windows 8 with a mouse since 2011, it's totally fine for use with such. There isn't improper or anything about it, move the mouse pointer, click. That's it.

Right, you can use the mouse. But it is not always convenient. I use scrollball mice and if the distance between 2 points is always very long, it is tough on the thumbkin. I prefer short travel distances for the cursor. 3 pages of start menu or all apps does not help.

I'm another one who can't remember many shortcuts. My Windows 8 is on a Notebook but I've plugged in a Microsoft Optical Wheel Mouse as I can get on with that much faster than the touchpad, although at times I still use the touchpad.

The shortcut I use the most is alt + f4 to close down any app I'm using at the time to close it, oh and the other I always remember is the ctrl + a to select all.

I'm still finding my way around and when I'm not busy in the forums I'm delving into it more as there's still a lot for me to learn, but I'm enjoying the journey. ;)
