    Going to school for IT

So I got out of the Navy last year and just got laid off from a job thanks to Obama Care so I decided to go back to school with my GI Bill for a BA in IT. I am doing some "Bing" on my end but was wondering from your experience what program would be best in terms of amount of jobs available here in the U.S. and pay. These are the programs available

    data Network Management
    Software Application Programming
    Software system Engineer

I'm going into the IT field as well for a secondary career, I can tell you that anything with data and networking will be a hot field for sure. As the workplace becomes mobile and wireless, networking needs to be done to manage all that as well as handling local and cloud storage. Security would be something to consider as well in the corporate enterprise as obviously, no one want secrets or confidential information in the wrong hands.

Programming and software engineering from what I know is a REAL vigorous field. If you're a math witch, that would be a great field for you as that needs absurd math. I have friend who is just an through and through math witch, and he's going into C# programming soon. I think he did that so he can just do game mods though....

Basically, you'd need to start out with a CompTIA certification to begin with, then work your way up from there. There's IT administration, networking, server management (IT admin I think) and the such. The future is going to be weird and will demand abilities across different skill spectrums. But to look on the bright side, maybe getting laid off could end up being a good thing?

Thanks man, I was looking into Data Management but was hoping for some more insight. Appreciate the thoughts. Yeah I wasn't horribly crushed losing the job and had a idea it was coming since the company lost 36% of it's revenue to Obama Care.
