Hi everyone
As a change to "What are you listening now" thread I'm curious as to the Best FREE gigs you've been to.

I'll start with an unusual one -- I'm not particularly religious but I absolutely enjoyed the 100% FREE Choral Evensong service in Durham Cathedral (N. England) recently -- I decided to escape from relatively cold weather while waiting for a colleague so I popped into Durham Cathedral (Over 900 years old) just as the Choral Evensong service was beginning.

It's probably one of the finest 60 mins (Free) that I've enjoyed -- absolutely Beautiful building, Magnificent choir, Magnificent music , lovely historic city, and the building actually had some Heating working too -- My sojourns in the UK usually lead me to feel that the British have finally discovered heating - but have somehow lost the technology on how to actually turn it on -- mind you at the prices for their Energy --not surprised - while the CEO's of British Gas etc walk away with HUGE "Bonuses" etc as bad as the Bankers -- another issue however.

I have to say also that Durham UK was one of the most pleasant places I've ever been to-- great people - even if 99% impossible to understand, absolutely fabulous pubs, and one of the best gigs I've ever been to --in spite of the fact large Cathedrals aren't my normal "thing" -- but please get some heating going guys there.

Thanks "Durhamites" for a fabulous two days -- You don't always have to stay in London for a good time in the UK.

Cheers
jimbo

In 1968 I was home on leave from Viet Nam and to go to several special schools. My girl friend and I went out to dinner one Friday night then afterwards we were walking around the upper side of downtown Seattle when we came across a concert being held at one of the local Temple's in that area. They were charging $2.50 for tickets to see the "Doors." Being in uniform (Navy) the guys at the door let us see the concert for free. A great night and wonderful memories. . .:D
