I know it is only rumored but does anyone else truly believe in this? Because if Microsoft creates their own Surface Phone then that would be incredible! Say good bye iFail!!!

Most likely, yes. Seeing as they said they were never developing a tablet PC and obviously did in secret, who's to say otherwise?

Also, it's been found from some internet benchmarking sites that they detected a Microsoft Surface Phone...

Guess I don't see the value in a "Surface Phone." My Nokia WP8 fully integrates into my MS ecosystem and there's nothing I want it to do that it doesn't get done. Love to hear what the advantages would be.

It will be interesting to see how this will come about and developed. I'm happy with the HTC 8X and the Windows Phone 8 system, I don't need a MS Surface Phone, but it would be great to see how this will be developed and what it will be (if the rumors are true) but I would most likely say it's a given.

What would you pay for this Microsoft Surface Tablet Phone? What would the service plans charges look like? Who's network backbone would they use?

Why restrict that all to a Surface tablet? You can do it right now, for Free with any desktop laptop or tablet. 100% Free Calls to USA Canada, Puerto, Mexico and Greece. This currently includes local, national or international calling to all cell phones and all land line phones (except 911) in all these countries but will work from anywhere in the world. They are adding the ability for land line phones and cell phones to call your PC directly for free as well as video. It's called Bobsled.

I have a thread about it here:http://www.eightforums.com/software...-xtra-phone-line-all-pc-mac-linux-device.html Made by T-mobile for all for free with awesome sound quality and fast duplex voice over internet. With all that, any new phone system that charges especially tied to a PC device like a tablet will be a Big failure.

I use this everyday while sitting on my PC and dont have to waste any minutes or worry about long distance charges. I think it's the best app on the planet.

Well hopefully we hear something here soon because I am getting a new phone in May and I am looking at either a HTC 8x or a Nokia 822 and I would like to see this out before then but I doubt I would be this fortunate.

Nokia actually will probably have their Lumia 920 variant for Verizon soon. It's just been found today of a Lumia 928 listing. If that's a higher end 920 with the metal body, that's yet to be known.

That would be nice, what are the hardware differences between the 920 and the 822?

Between the two, there is the supersensitive touchscreen (you can use your gloves or anything electrically conductive like keys or butcher knives) and the PureView OIS camera. THAT is impressive! If you think you've seen a great smartphone camera, you OBVIOUSLY have never seen or used a Nokia Lumia 920! This is fact. That's basically the main differences between them.

If you don't care about the touchscreen or the camera, I'd do the 822. That has a removable battery and expandable storage to I believe 72 gigs, not too sure about that though. The 920 is locked to 32 gigs.

A Nokia EOS? Any details on this?
Nokia EOS with 41 megapixel PureView camera in works

This has some details about it. What's REALLY interesting about the leaked images of the purported device is that they were leaked back around a year ago in April, BEFORE Windows Phone 8 was announced, BEFORE the new Start button on Windows Phone 8 was shown, and obviously a year ago. So it's basically not a question of if, but when. Some rumors have it being released this summer. There is definite chatter going around from some Nokia sources/contacts about this Windows Phone, but they've remained rather tight lipped about it.

They freaking better! I'm waiting that out with my current Lumia 900! Now THAT is the one I will upgrade for, they need to shut up and take my money!

Oh, and also, there were some financial filings by Nokia recently that seems to peg out that Microsoft might actually be releasing a Surface Phone.

Honestly, those two Windows Phones aren't a question of if, but really when.

How is the 900? I'm due for a necessary upgrade to an actual phone (I made the mistake of getting an iPhone) and I don't know if I can wait until the 920 comes to Verizon or of I should wait for a future Windows Phone to be releases.

I have both a 900 and 920, the 900 is running the 7.8 update that gives it the Windows Phone 8ish feel.

I can tell you one thing for SURE, there are some menial refinements in 8 that aren't in 7.8 that you will notice. They aren't huge differences, but just so simple little things that actually make me want to go for sure on Windows Phone 8 for those little things. The 900 I must say is a REAL nice device. It's Nokia, so they will keep bringing new Windows Phone 8 content, as much as possible, to the 900 as they can. Some apps like Cinemagraph were recently just brought over to the elder Lumia handsets. But my gripe now from using a 920 is the storage (how did I live with 16 gigs), camera (this is obvious as the 920 PureView is just WOW), and the speaker (the 920 has a real LOUD speaker with a very good bass that I'm missing). If you HAVE to upgrade, the 900 isn't a bad choice. Actually, what network are you on first off?

Also, the Lumia 928 (Verizon 920 variant) should be released soon. When? Can't say for sure nor will I. I bet it's May, because there is a current rumor of Instagram being ported over FINALLY for Windows Phone 8 that could be a May release on Nokia handsets, and what better phone to released to use something like that? A PureView handset! There are some leaked images of pictures the camera on it supposedly has taken, but it's something no one knows for sure. Such a handset MIGHT be the aluminum thinner 920 codenamed Catwalk, again, no one knows for sure. But, some journalist/blogger was shown it recently at MWC and said it was just amazing. That on Verizon (which is known for demanding over the top high end handsets to sell for some odd reason) will be real well. I've personally been spotting the Lumia 822 from Verizon in public, so if those are doing nicely over the HTC 8X, then the 928 has SERIOUS potential. BUT WINDOWS PHONE 8 NEEDS THE MAINSTREM APPS!!!

I DO know a lot about the Windows Phone. :)

Generally, Nokia has been doing number changes on their main handsets as to configure them for THAT carrier. The Lumia 520, a lower end handset, will be released in Europe and then then the 521 for the US on T Mobile will be released as well.

If you're on Verizon, you won't be able to use the Lumia 900, that's a GSM handset that Verizon can't support. The HTC 8X is ok, but the Lumia 822 on Verizon is pretty solid. Honestly, that is WAY better than the 8X I have to say. It has the ClearBlack display and I think super sensitive touch like the 920, I can tell you a ClearBlack display is nothing but GORGEOUS! Blacks are black, whites are white, and colors are juicy! It has a microSD card port which I would really want for sure, so you can get like a total of roughly 68 gigs of free space to do whatever. The camera on that one I believe is similar to the 900's Carl Zeiss camera lens, so it's real decent, not a 920, but real decent.

If you must upgrade right away, the 822 is a real good pick you can't go wrong with.

But there is always the 928 in the works, that I bet will be a summer release, maybe May. The reason why the rumor is May and why I think it might be May as well is because that's about six, seven months after the 920 was released, and there is speculation that att will start allowing unlocks on the att handsets to be used on a different GSM carrier. When the Lumia 900 was released last April, they started unlocking them in October, when the 920 was released. So it could potentially follow that path.
