    • I would not even think anymore not to have a home server. It makes my life easier
      • Computers: 1
    • We have two IPTV services, both our German and Finnish television signal come over the net. A HTPC is a must if you really want to free from TV schedules
      • Computers: 2
    • Although already retired, I still do quite a lot web-mastering and IT related work. For that I need a reliable, comfortable desktop
      • Computers: 3
    • My wife is a keen hobby photographer. To edit her photos, she also needs a good workstation, a desktop
      • Computers: 4
    • Both of us have laptops, to be used when not at home, or when wanting to surf in bed or in garden and so on
      • Computers: 6
    • I wanted to test Mac OSX on a virtual machine running on Windows 7, only to see if it could be done. I am very strongly against piracy in all forms, so I could not even think of torrenting a "Hackintosh" ISO. Even buying the original OSX install media made me feel as a pirate because Apple has forbidden the use of their OS's on anything else than Mac computers, so I ended up buying a MacBook only to get the original install media. Here my moral and ethics gave up, I decided I am not a pirate if I install legally obtained, valid OSX on a Seven vm, test it shortly and delete it when finished with testing. This I did
      • Computers: 7
    • The second hand value of old PC's, desktops and laptops alike, is very small. I rather keep the old rigs as spares than use time and money to find somebody who could give me a few bucks
      • Computers: 10+
And so on. I believe if you ask other older geeks you get quite similar answers.

Too many. 3 servers, 7 desktops, 5 laptops, 20 or so in build or testing or something.

1HP desktop, 1 Gateway laptop and 1 Sony Vaio laptop in Florida. 1 Dell desktop and 1 HP laptop in Germany, 1 Gateway laptop in NY. The laptops are mostely used by the wife. Only the Sony is mine exclusively, plus I use the desktops. I am not really a laptop guy. The Sony I only got to teach classes at the computer club.
