I've played the drums for about 40 years and I play several times a month at our church... Here's my 1979 Slingerland kit... I also have a Roland VDrum electronic kit for practicing since the old Slingerland kit is so loud!!

That's funny! My brain won't let me play any other instrument but the drums! My wife plays the keyboards and piano, our daughter (17) plays the piano and cello and our son (21) plays the guitar, bass, mandolin, ukelele, drums and keys. All I can do is play the drums!

Guitar is my main instrument. I also play Bass, Vocals and in a pinch can play drums. I play at the harmonica, but I really suck at it LOL! When I get home I will post some pics of my guitars. I have played in several bands and in my younger days made a living singing in Austin. My most recent band was a Blues/classic rock band. We got the chance to open up for Sammy Kershaw, Emerson Drive and Austin Allsup. Not bad for a group of friends just having fun. I quit not to long after my Daughter was born to be home more often and to concentrate more on just song writing and home recording. I would prefer to write a song and let some young kid go on tour to sing it, then I can just stay in my undies drinking coffee and getting that mailbox money :)

I have always wanted to do an email collaboration with different folks to see what could be written. Have one person lay down a drum track email it to the next person to lay a bass or guitar down, then email the tracks to the next person till it's done then email the completed track to everyone. I think it would be fun personally...

I used to play classical saxophone and jazz trombone, but am now horribly out of practice. Same with my doumbek (Middle Eastern drum).

Thanks Art! Your Kit is quite pretty as well. I love the finish on your shells!!

LOL! Yeah, never been called Nigel before....... However I do turn it to 11,because 11 is louder than 10
:p

That is over the past 10 years or so, each one was a gift to myself or a gift from the wife for a special occasion. The Danelectro was the most recent, it was a guitar I always wanted and the wife bought for me to celebrate the birth of our daughter. I love that guitar; it plays like butter and has an amazing sound. It doesn't leave the house, as I hope that my daughter gets interested in music and I can pass it on to her when she gets older.

It's always nice to pass an instrument down to the next generation! My Slingerland kit is cherry stain over birch, and they only made 12 kits like it (according to Larry Linkin, the former CEO of the company from 1979). I did some consulting for the NAMM a few years ago and I always enjoyed checking out the products at the Danelectro booth, since they always had cool items.

I have played guitar (classical, acoustic, or electric... all kinds) for many years. I am on our church worship team (been doing that a long time, too). I've been playing mostly electric for the last several years. This year, we are doing a Christmas program that is based upon several Trans-Siberian arrangements. It's been a lot of work, but quite fun. We're performing this weekend!

Sorry I don't have any good gear pics at the moment. But my list is:

Guitars:
2008 Les Paul Traditional Pro
198x Hamer 25th Annersary
1991 Fender American Strat Deluxe Plus
1980 Gibson ES-347
1989 Taylor 810
2010 Alhambra 11P

Amps:
1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb
1968 Fender Vibro Champ
1969 Fender Pro Reverb
1973 Fender Princeton Reverb
Clone (kit) 1959 Fender Tweed Deluxe
Clone (custom) Vox AC4

And a handful of pedals...

mbratch, very cool that you also play at church. To me, that's the perfect way to play the drums with other musicians for people who appreciate what we're trying to do. We have many talented people and they let me play the drums with them!

My collection pales in comparison these days.

I've got a Les Paul Epiphone, an American Standard Telecaster and a Fender Dreadnought acoustic. There's also a Yum-cha classical I fiddle with occasionally.

Only amp I have left is a Marshall 50W, which is good enough for around the house.

Thanks to a faulty power pack, Santa needs to replace some pedals that went fzzzt.

I don't play religiously, but I'm sure my neighbours invoke his name when I play.

"Oh God, there he goes again :p"

I'm thinking about buying a theremin. I've been looking at kits. One is 90 dollars, the other is about 375 dollars. The more expensive one is by Moog. Neither have much for the buyer to do, add the circuit board to a case, connecting knobs, the antenna, etc.

The Theremin is cool. Here's a great video by a virtuoso on the instrument. At a couple of places in the video, she describes some of the background of the instrument.
