Anyone else her play a musical instrument?

It's always nice to pass an instrument down to the next generation! My Slingerland kit is cherry stain over birch, and they only made 12 kits like it (according to Larry Linkin, the former CEO of the company from 1979). I did some consulting for the NAMM a few years ago and I always enjoyed checking out the products at the Danelectro booth, since they always had cool items.

Guitar AND drums?! That's cool! My wife and I just returned from rehearsal. We have two campuses and we play twice a month, once at each church campus. We have 5 bands, total.

I have played guitar (classical, acoustic, or electric... all kinds) for many years. I am on our church worship team (been doing that a long time, too). I've been playing mostly electric for the last several years. This year, we are doing a Christmas program that is based upon several Trans-Siberian arrangements. It's been a lot of work, but quite fun. We're performing this weekend!

Sorry I don't have any good gear pics at the moment. But my list is:

    2008 Les Paul Traditional Pro
    198x Hamer 25th Annersary
1991 Fender American Strat Deluxe Plus
    1980 Gibson ES-347
    1989 Taylor 810
    2010 Alhambra 11P

    1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb
    1968 Fender Vibro Champ
    1969 Fender Pro Reverb
    1973 Fender Princeton Reverb
Clone (kit) 1959 Fender Tweed Deluxe
    Clone (custom) Vox AC4

    And a handful of pedals...

mbratch, very cool that you also play at church. To me, that's the perfect way to play the drums with other musicians for people who appreciate what we're trying to do. We have many talented people and they let me play the drums with them!

My collection pales in comparison these days.

I've got a Les Paul Epiphone, an American Standard Telecaster and a Fender Dreadnought acoustic. There's also a Yum-cha classical I fiddle with occasionally.

Only amp I have left is a Marshall 50W, which is good enough for around the house.

Thanks to a faulty power pack, Santa needs to replace some pedals that went fzzzt.

I don't play religiously, but I'm sure my neighbours invoke his name when I play.

"Oh God, there he goes again "

I'm thinking about buying a theremin. I've been looking at kits. One is 90 dollars, the other is about 375 dollars. The more expensive one is by Moog. Neither have much for the buyer to do, add the circuit board to a case, connecting knobs, the antenna, etc.

The Theremin is cool. Here's a great video by a virtuoso on the instrument. At a couple of places in the video, she describes some of the background of the instrument.
