A friend recently forwarded me a MetroTwit for Windows 8 cameo in a UX Week 2012 presentation by Microsoft’s Jensen Harris from the Windows design team. Watching through the entire presentation, I noticed that Jensen showed off something I’ve never seen before – early mockups of the Windows 8 UI.

No surprise, they probably start to work on it before Windows 7 launch. Rumors since a year now is that next one will not call Windows, so they work on something else way before Windows 8 Launch too, will code blue a new OS or a major patch ?????? Is Windows 8 a transition to a desktop less OS ?

    Windows 8 VM is install on his own SSD.
These are so weird, it for some reason makes me think of the original Windows Longhorn concept with an early iteration of Windows Phone 7.

I personally would be enthused to have all the builds of Windows 8 that were developed to see what all the things that changed. I remember the early alpha builds and a few screenshot leaks of Windows 8 a couple years ago. Those were weird as well.

The mockups actually look better than the final version, in that you can actually see relevant information like your battery life, the time, etc. Lol.
