Hi guys,
Recently I've been getting blue screens with sad faces and rebooting...
the error is apparently a kernel trap. I've been getting a lot of freezes with windows 8 and accidentally overwrote 7...I'm trying Firefox now and seeing how it is, but can we see if we can fix the kernel trap? :)

Could you rerun it and see if you can generate an MSINFO32 report also?

Here's what I got from the memory dump:

It looks like you're running both Norton and McAfee products. This will cause problems. Please uninstall one of them immediately.

Daemon Tools/Alcohol % software is known to cause issues with Win7 systems. I'd suspect that it'll also cause issues with Win8 systems and suggest that you uninstall it.

PxHelp20.sys dates from 2006, so it's probably not compatible with your system. It belongs to a CD/DVD program, so you'll have to uninstall that in order to remove the driver.

If the above steps don't stop the BSOD's, please zip up and upload any new memory dumps with your next post - and we'll see what we can figure out from there.

The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs

Another isue I just saw - when I am logged into one account, sleep the computer, wait for maybe an hour, open the lid and hit the back arrow to switch I get a please wait screen.
Do you happen to know if there's a better pdf viewer for firefox than adobe (like the one in chrome?)

The file has been used by many different CD/DVD programs - so it's a matter of figuring out which program had it included. The easiest way would be to install all your CD/DVD apps on a clean test machine and check after each install and reboot.

I do know that just removing/renaming the PxHelp20.sysfile will cause your CD/DVD drive to disappear.

Right now it's only a suspicious file (due to it's date), not an identified problem.
I'd suggest leaving it be while we see if there's other issues.

Was your Norton Internet Security listed as compatible with Win8? If not, try uninstalling it (and using the built in Defender app) to see if that helps things.

I've had problems with the built-in pdf reader (in Win8) and removed it from my system because of that. I currently use the free FoxIt PDF Reader
